Academic Training Programs

For more than 35 years UAB Civitan-Sparks Clinics has provided a leadership role in interdisciplinary training programs in the field of developmental disabilities while providing unique and essential clinical services to Alabama families, communities and schools, and persons from around the world.

As Alabama's original University Affiliated Program, now known as University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Civitan-Sparks Clinics has built a solid reputation as one of the nation's outstanding interdisciplinary training programs. For the most part, training programs are focused on graduate and post doctoral educational experiences in interdisciplinary settings.

Academic programs at Civitan-Sparks Clinics are an integral part of the interdisciplinary training programs, client services and research activities at the UAB Civitan International Research Center. Working together, the clinical staff, faculty, students and Center's researchers are making a difference in the lives of persons with developmental disabilities.
