About Our Mission
The
mission of UAB's Civitan AmeriCorps Program is to provide an educational
opportunity for Americans to increase the independence, productivity,
and community integration of all people. Individuals with and without
disabilities constitute the Corps. They provide an array of services
including personal assistance, transportation, respite care, tutoring
and job coaching to individuals with disabilities and their families.
Members of the Corps help build community awareness of the many
contributions that people with disabilities make and help to increase
the community's capacity to provide opportunities for them to contribute.
UAB’s Civitan AmeriCorps Program is based at the Civitan International
