Projects Ellen Dossett,
Ph.D., I am Ellen Dossett, Director of LIFE Projects. Our offices are located in the UAB Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham, Alabama. We believe that independence and autonomy are high priorities for all individuals. These goals are within reach for people with all degrees of abilities when they are given appropriate support services throughout their lives. Inspirational examples of this success can be seen in the book, Just As I Am: Americans With Disabilities. Our professionals are available to design and implement support services based on your individual needs. Special programs include the Lifelong Coordination Clinic (LCC), the AmeriCorps Community Service Program, Meet Your Neighbor, Research, Advocacy Services, and Assistance to Employers and Businesses. We share collaborative efforts with the Alabama Council for Developmental Disabilities (ACDD), as well as, the newly established Governor’s Office on Disability (GOOD). Birmingham has a growing community of people who require ongoing support in order to live their lives as they choose; and, Central Alabama is a great place to live, work, and play. There are bountiful employment, housing, recreational, social, sports, and cultural opportunities for all individuals, regardless of differences and needs. Whether you are a student, a homemaker, an employee, an employer, or a family member of someone with cognitive or physical disabilities we at LIFE Projects are here to help you fulfill your personal and professional dreams.Contact
